Broadcast TV Programming
After spending a few years producing television graphics, I knew that I wanted to move into storytelling. This led me to working on a historical re-enactment based series for the History Channel, producing long and short format content for Current TV, and leading post production for several true-crime series for Investigation Discovery.
INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY (ID)
Wives With Knives
This show came about when the head of ID Network approached the owner of Indigo Films and said “Make me a show called Wives with Knives.” And so we did.
FUN FACT: It’s my wedding photo and me and the Art Director struggling in the background of the show Title sequence and graphics.
I Almost Got Away With It
This was my first foray into true crime TV. As a former prosecutor, it really felt like an amazing culmination of my professional experiences. I started in the newly created position of Story Supervisor for Season 2 and we went on from there for an amazing 78 episode run (through Season 8). To this day, every time I see a crazy headline about a fugitive that’s been captured after being on the run or after a daring prison escape, I still want to make another.
HISTORY CHANNEL
Man, Moment, Machine
This show explored the intersection of a specific moment in time when a person changed history with a new invention or technology. It was my introduction to producing long format stories for TV.
As the coordinating producer of the historical re-enactments, I was responsible for location scouting, permits, insurance, hiring and qualifying of freelance crews, budget management, scheduling, negotiating contracts and troubleshooting legal issues. I reviewed scripts to determine appropriate locations, props and casting requirements. I served as First AD and Location Manager and supervised the AP and PAs with cast, props and wardrobe for six one hour episodes.
CURRENT TV (Emmy-award winning media company co-founded by Al Gore)
When I learned about a new Network being started in San Francisco with the goal of democratizing television, I was determined to be a part of it. I spent 4+ years working at Current TV. Each day I co-produced 3-4 short format, interstitial segments on art, music, movies, websites and cultural events to help keep the network content fresh. I then also assumed responsibility for producing holiday and special event programming, working with the graphics, promos, online, music, scheduling, post, broadcast operations, marketing and legal departments. As the network programming continued to evolve, I helped pilot and produce long-format, hosted, news and interview-based daily programs.
